A Call for Justice and Accountability
At Trauma Rescue Aid, our Survivors center in Seeta Mukono district Uganda we continue to support survivors of torture and sexual violence in their rehabilitation and efforts to rebuild their lives. We know how important access to justice is for survivors’ ability to heal
Sadly, despite the United Nations adopting the Convention Against Torture 38 years ago, the world continues to witness the brutal and systematic use of rape and torture as a weapon of war in Sudan to conflict pain in survivors and communities.
Today, survivors of war crimes, particularly in Sudan, are suffering more than ever as these crimes escalate daily.
Sexual violence and torture are absolutely prohibited. They are never justified, not in times of war, not in acts of retaliation, and not under any circumstances. These acts of inhumanity destroy lives, strip away dignity, and leave lasting scars that affect survivors and their communities for generations. There are no exceptions to this truth.
As we stand with the survivors of sexual violence and torture in Sudan, we continue to advocate and call for for justice. The perpetrators of these crimes must be held accountable, especially those responsible for the atrocities against civilians in Sudan. The world cannot afford to let these crimes go unpunished, and it is our collective responsibility to demand justice for the victims and ensure that no one is allowed to perpetuate such violence with impunity.
We urge the #Internationalcommunity the #UnitedNations the #AfricanUnion to take immediate action ensuring that those responsible for torture and sexual violence are held accountable and that survivors are given the support they deserve to heal.
At Trauma Rescue Aid, we will continue to stand with survivors, amplify their voices, and advocate for the justice that they deserve. Together, we can create a future where torture and sexual violence are no longer a reality but a dark chapter in history that we never repeat.
Join us in the fight for justice and healing.
