During the Easter week of 2024, Trauma Rescue Aid, led by Barona Jagod our Counsellor, conducted a humanitarian outreach program targeting Sudanese refugee families residing in Mukono, Uganda. The purpose of this outreach was to provide essential food packages and offer Trauma counseling to Sudanese families in need.
Activities Conducted
1. Distribution of Food Packages
The food packages distributed included rice, beans, cooking oil, sugar, salt, and maize flour. These food items was given to the most vulnerable family to ensure the nutritional for the children.
A total of 6 food packages were distributed, 6 household benefited around 26 individuals
2. Counseling Services
counseling sessions was provided to each families addressing issues such as trauma, stress, and emotional well-being. The sessions particularly focused on vulnerable groups, including children and women.
Impact and Feedback
The food distribution provided immediate relief by addressing the urgent need for food security among the refugee families. The counseling services helped alleviate emotional distress and provided coping mechanisms for those affected by trauma. Feedback from the community was overwhelming with many expressing appreciation for the assistance provided.
Conclusion
The Easter outreach, conducted by Barona Jagod, was successful in achieving its objectives of providing food supplies and emotional support to the Sudanese refugee community in Mukono. The activity highlighted the continued need for such support and the importance of ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of refugees.
